Research Mandate for Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro Sindh Pakistan

Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences is a chartered public sector higher education institute approved by government of Sindh through an ordinance and duly recognized by higher education commission of Pakistan.

The research mandate of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences is to strengthen the research activities and provide services for matters pertaining to research and development through invention, innovation, commercialization of products, patents, collaboration and arranging seminars, conferences and workshops. Moreover, our university strives to contribute significantly in improving the national and international ranking through quality research work and publicationsin the medical field.

Our university has two different departments dealing with the research exclusively.

  1. ORIC (Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization)
  2. REC (Research Ethics Committee)

ORIC MANDATE

Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) focuses to strengthen research culture at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro and to link research activities directly to other educational institutions at national and international level and deliver its benefit to the community. The ORIC also strives to facilitate faculty in developing and conducting highquality research projects of International standard.

ORIC department aims to:

  • To support the university's strategic research directions and policies
  • To increase and diversify external research funding
  • To make suggestion regarding recruitment and retention of research faculty
  • To strengthen integration of research and education at all levels of the university
  • To promote translation of research into the public benefit
  • To Strengthen university-industry relationships
  • To Promote entrepreneurship, technology-transfer and commercialization activities that energize and support the local and national economy
  • To promote and enhance cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives

REC MANDATE

All research taking place at LUMHS or by its staff or students at any site, which involves human subjects, tissue, products, fetus or genetic material from human subjects, whether dead or alive, will need approval by the REC before the research can commence
