The MURC Quest 2.0 is a flagship academic competition of the Medical Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC-LUMHS 2026), designed to promote research literacy, critical thinking, evidence-based medicine, and teamwork among future healthcare professionals. The contest will challenge participants' knowledge of research methodology, scientific writing, biostatistics, research ethics, and evidence-based healthcare through an engaging team-based competition.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to recognized Medical, Dental, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences colleges/institutions.
- Each participating team must be an official representation of its respective institution and should be nominated/endorsed by the Head of Institution, Principal, Dean, Director Research / ORIC or an authorized representative.
- Each team may consist of a maximum of three (3) participants.
- Participants must be undergraduate students of the same institution.
- An institution may register one or more official teams.
Competition Format
Round 1 – Preliminary Round
- All registered teams will participate in a multiple-choice quiz using an audience response system.
- Questions will assess knowledge of research methodology, biostatistics, research ethics, evidence-based medicine, and related topics.
- Based on the cumulative scores, the 75% of top-performing teams will qualify for Round 2.
Round 2 – Semi-Final Round
- Qualified teams from Round 1 will compete in a more challenging quiz comprising multiple question formats.
- The round will test analytical thinking, application of research concepts, and teamwork.
- At the end of this round, the top four (4) teams will advance to the Grand Finale.
Round 3 – Grand Finale (5 or 6 September 2026)
- The top four teams will compete in a live stage-based final.
- The Grand Finale will consist of multiple interactive rounds designed to evaluate research knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork, and speed under timed conditions.
- The Champion and Runner-up teams will be determined based on the final cumulative scores.

Rules
- Each team may have up to three participants.
- Team composition must remain unchanged after registration.
- Participants must carry a valid institutional identity card during the competition.
- The decision of the Quiz Committee shall be final and binding.
- Any form of academic misconduct or unfair practice will result in immediate disqualification.
Awards
Awards will be presented to:
- Champion Team
- Runner-up Team
All participants will receive Certificates of Participation, while the winning teams will receive awards and certificates during the Closing Ceremony.

Please note that registration for the Medical Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC-LUMHS 2026) is mandatory for all quiz participants. Teams will be considered eligible only after completing both the conference registration and the quiz registration.
There is no separate registration fee for participation in the MURC Quest 2.0 ; however, conference registration is mandatory for all participants.
