Department of Medical Education

Department of Medical had been notified vide notification number LMC/A/-122274/28 and had started functioning on October 1st , 1995.

Dr Sirajul Haque Shaikh renowned educationist was the pioneer and first In charge of this department.

Vision & Mission

To assist in implementation of the vision and mission of LUMHS Jamshoro to become a centre of excellence in health care, research and community service by enhancing the quality and competence in medical education of health professionals of University. :

Objectives

To start and upgrade robust faculty professional program for the enhancement of evidence based , quality medical educational skills in University teachers.

Training Goals

Objective of the workshops is to enhance the competency of university teachers in teaching skills , assessment , research in medical education and supervisory skills.

Learning Outcomes

Participants after training are expected to plan , teach , facilitate undergraduate MBBS students with improved knowledge, skills and attitude. Their assessment techniques are expected to become more objective. Participants are also expected to learn and improve their supervisory skills for post graduate students.

Activities

DME has been organizing workshops for the faculty development and enhancement of competencies in teachers indigenously and with the help of higher education commission Pakistan. DME has been performing following tasks:
  • Conducts Workshops and training the Faculty in different trends of Teaching & Learning e.g Teaching Methods and Skills, Communication Skills, Preparing lesson plans and effective presentation, Assessment of competencies,  Learning, Educational Planning, Curriculum and Supervisory Skills.
  • Monitoring the quality and awarding CME credits to departmental workshops and seminars e.g on Research Methodology and biostatistics, Professional skills development like BLS, ALS, Newborn Resuscitation, Reproductive and child health.
  • Curriculum Development and revisiting of curricula of various university departments.
  • CME/CDE/CPD point credit hour system implementation and monitoring as per PMDC guidelines.
  • Supporting Online DCHC program
