COURSE OF STUDIES - ADMISSIONS 2010-11

Integrated teaching curriculum and Semester System has been introduced in the University and its affiliated Medical College (PMC Nawabshah) for MBBS and BDS Programmes replacing the old annual examination system with effect from Academic Session 2007-2008.

The semester system is a unique system in which education is delivered into a process where students can learn according to their interest. After evaluation of their performance/ progress assessed through different types of tests / assessments, they earn degree on their cumulative performance throughout the Programme of their study and they are not compelled to commit every thing to memory for once a year performance.

The academic session shall comprise of two semesters each of sixteen (16) weeks; out of this period, fourteen (14) weeks shall be the actual teaching period and remaining two (2) weeks shall be for preparatory leave.

The teaching to first semester may normally commence from the month November every year and may continue upto 1st week of March including one week Winter Vacation. There will be two (2) weeks preparatory leave from last week of March.

Finally the candidate having attendance less than 65% shall not be eligible to appear in the semester examination and will be considered as fail in that particular semester but he/she will be allowed to move in the next semester as mentioned in the “Organization of Semester System”./p>

Objective Structured Practical/Clinical Examination (OSPE/OSCE) System of Examination

To provide uniform and bias free assessment of practical examination and to keep pace with improving teaching standard within country and abroad OSPE/OSCE pattern has been implemented to conduct practical/viva voce examination in all examinations. The periodical test on basic and clinical subject will also be conducted on OSPE/OSCE pattern.

Problem Based Learning (PBL)
